In Memory of Quannin Ralphel Duren

(1974-2002)

Somehow mere words seem inadequate to express on the friendship and bond we shared. But I fear to leave my thought unheard. So I put them to word, that they may live on even after I am gone. So Dear God, I hope and pray that you pass this message on to Quannin for me.

Quannin there is no doubt
You will be surely missed
You have left many to mourn
Your home going...

Jahmel and I loved you
No - Love You!
As you are our brother or cousin
Many will be shocked to learn we wasn't
Norris shares the strength of that bond as well
It was built very well

As it is rare in this life
To find one friend - especially where we come from
I was blessed to find two
One is Jahmel, the other is you

One bullet ripped me away from you
Three ripped you away from me
A few days ago

They tell me to find peace
In that you are finally home
Resting in peace...
But Q, I find that hard to swallow
Those words somehow seem shallow
Even hollow

They don't understand
That we are deeper than ordinary friends
Built on love, honesty, dignity, respect, honor,
And bonded through struggles of war
And survival in the concrete jungle

Q, in the end
I know that they are right
I still find your loss hard to swallow
And so that's why I fall to my knees
And pray that God will allow you
to rest in peace at last.

Jahmel and I, we love you 4-life. And as long as we have life, your memory will always live on...

Rest In Peace Quannin
